UpTimeMonger
This application will monitor and report on the frequency and duration of server downtime. Two web accounts are required. One is the web account (server) being tested. The other must be on a separate CF box... preferably at the same ISP to avoid any possibility of blaming internet connectivity for server failure.
A good, conscientious ISP that doesn’t overcrowd its servers can be a real pain to find. One sign of a packed house is the dreaded NT Location 26 error, which usually is the sign of the ColdFusion Application Server being down... typically as the result of a failover reboot, but perhaps for a longer period of time. Either way, the server’s in-memory variables will be washed away, and the results to your visitors and applications can range from minor to catastrophic.
While the application’s reporting was enhanced considerably here, along with a few other tweaks, and documentation has been improved, this application was not written here. The original author (Aaron Hensell, also credited in the source) passed this app along to help us out of a jam, and graciously gave permission to do the same for others.
This is a tool meant for experienced ColdFusion developers. Further, it contains features (particularly the hatemailer) that can get you into trouble with your ISP. USE WITH CAUTION, DISCRETION AND AT YOUR OWN RISK!
